Jonathan Abel was born in Miami, Florida and attended the University of Florida, where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in 1980. Jonathan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida School of Law in 1983.

Since his admission to the Florida Bar in 1983, Jonathan's primary area of insurance defense practice has been focused on the representation of hospitals, physicians, psychologists, and long term care facilities in medical negligence claims. Jonathan has also been regularly engaged in the defense of product liability claims, including medical device litigation, as well as non-medical professional liability claims.

Jonathan is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida. In addition, Jonathan is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, the Broward County Bar Association, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, the South Florida Claims Association, the Florida Society for Health Care Risk Management, the American Society for Health Care Risk Management and the International Association of Defense Counsel. Since 2004, Jonathan has been recognized annually as a Top Lawyer by the South Florida Legal Guide. In May, 2011 Jonathan was inducted as a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a Trial Lawyers Honorary Society. In addition, Jonathan authored an article titled "Psychiatrists and Prevention of Patient Suicide: Legal Duties in Medical Negligence Claims", published in the 2011 First Quarter edition of Physician Insurer magazine.

David Michael Abosch was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware in 2001, and his juris doctor from Nova Southeastern University School of Law in 2006, where he was a member of the ILSA Journal International and Comparative Law. David practices in the firm's Property Department, which primarily handles first-party property damage claims and coverage matters. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2006, and is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts as well as the United States District Court in and for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.

Michael A. Adams was born in Greenville, Michigan. Prior to completing his undergraduate studies, Michael served 5 years in the United States Marine Corps. Michael earned his undergraduate degree from Ferris State University in 2007, and his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2010. Michael was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2011.

Prior to joining the firm, Michael served as an Assistant Public Defender in the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida handling a complete spectrum of criminal cases. During his time at the Public Defender’s office, Michael served as a Judge for the Collier County Teen Court Program. In private practice, Michael worked for other firms practicing in criminal defense and foreclosure defense. Michael is admitted to practice in all Florida and Michigan State Courts. Currently, Michael practices in all areas of general liability with an emphasis on Personal Injury Protection.

Alvarez, Manuel F.

Manuel F. Alvarez was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Manny received his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida in 1990 and his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in 1996. Manny practices in all areas of workers' compensation. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1996 and is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. In addition, Manny is a member of the Escambia/Santa Rosa Bar Association. Manny served as a State Prosecutor in Miami for approximately two and one-half years. Manny's prior work experiences include, among other things, serving as a former Police Officer in Daytona Beach and former Deputy Sheriff in Orange County in Orlando, Florida. Manny also previously developed a program of instruction for training police SWAT teams throughout the state of Michigan in support of the Michigan Army National Guard Counter Drug program.

Manny is also a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army Reserve. He served two tours in Iraq in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn. During his first deployment in 2006-2007, Manny served as an Infantry Officer embedded with the Iraqi Army. He served with an Iraqi Army Infantry Battalion as their U.S. Army Operations and Maneuver Advisor. Manny earned the Bronze Star Medal for distinguished service and the Combat Infantry Badge, among other awards, while embedded with the Iraqi Army.

During his second deployment in 2010-2011, Manny served as part of the United States Forces - Iraq Strategic Effects J9 Section supporting the U.S. State Department's Provincial Reconstruction Teams throughout all sixteen provinces in Iraq. Manny’s assignment with the State Department supported the transition from U.S. military to U.S. State Department mission in developing the Iraqi governance and rule of law infrastructure. Manny earned the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for distinguished service, among other awards.

As part of other military assignments, Manny traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to train military forces from multiple South American nations in areas of Human Rights and Law of War. Manny also participated in multi-national exercises with multiple Central and South American military forces in the Republics of Panama and Chile.

Manny continues his practice in all areas of worker's compensation.

Xaverie Baxley-Hull was born in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida in 1996 and her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 1999. Prior to joining the firm, Xaverie focused her attention on the defense of various product and equipment manufacturers, contractors and premise owners, representing these clients in general commercial litigation which included aspects of premise and product liability, international law, customs and foreign trade practices, along with toxic tort litigation.

Xaverie is a member of The Florida Bar, State Bar of Texas and The Virgin Islands Bar. She is a member of the Broward County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and the American Business Woman's Institute. Jonathon C.A. Blevins was born in Webster, Texas. Jonathon earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 2005, and his Juris Doctor from Barry University in 2008. During law school, Jonathon was involved in the Trial Advocacy Team and Moot Court Honors Board. As an advocate he competed in four national competitions. Further, he was selected to be the Chief Justice of the Moot Court Honors Board. After law school, Jonathon served as an Assistant State Attorney in the 5th Judicial Circuit of Florida. The cases covered the spectrum from basic criminal traffic infractions to serious, violent felonies. In private practice, Jonathon worked for other firms practicing in criminal defense, foreclosure defense and liability defense.

Joshua Christopher Canton was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in December 2001 and began practicing in the insurance defense field in 2002.

Joshua began practicing in the firm’s Orlando office in 2006. He has practiced in the firm’s Tallahassee office since 2011. Joshua has handled numerous complex cases, including wrongful death, products liability, negligent security, construction defects, premises liability, first party property, professional malpractice and automobile liability, as well as, coverage disputes. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the Georgia Bar, and the District of Columbia Bar, and he practices in both State and Federal Court throughout the States of Florida and Georgia.

Rina Clemens was born in California. Rina earned her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in American Government from Cornell University in 2005, a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from Georgetown University in 2006, and her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2009. While in law school, Rina was a Pro Bono Honors recipient, an Executive Board member of the Moot Court Honor Board, received a certificate in International Law and was awarded Best Oral Advocate of her Law School’s Internal Competition. She was also an Oral Advocate at the Evans A. Evans Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition at the University of Wisconsin Law School. She is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts. Rina currently practices in all areas of general liability, with an emphasis on personal injury protection (PIP). She is the Outreach Chair for the Inns of Court, on the Board of Directors for the Suncoast High School Foundation, the Co-Chair of the Mentoring Committee for the Florida Association of Women Lawyers (F.A.W.L.), and a member of the Professionalism Committee for the Palm Beach County Bar Association.

Kristan Smith Coad was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Kristan earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1994 and her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami in 1998. Prior to joining the firm, Kristan worked as in-house trial counsel for Nationwide Insurance Company and also served as an Assistant State Attorney in Pinellas County where she prosecuted and tried to verdict a variety of misdemeanor and felony cases. Kristan practices in all areas of general liability including personal injury protection. She has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1998. Kristan is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts.

Kristan and her husband, Mike, live in St. Petersburg with their son, Tanner, and their English Bulldogs.

Stuart attended the University of Miami where he earned a Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in finance in 1990. He then attended the University of Miami School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1993. Tom Conroy graduated from the University of Miami with a B.B.A. in 1971. Tom moved upstate to attend Florida State University, receiving his Juris Doctor from that institution in 1974.

Since his admission to the Florida Bar in 1974, he has specialized in the defense of workers' compensation claims. Initially employed as house counsel of a major insurance company, Tom went on to become an assistant city attorney for the City of Miami. In this position, he began to acquire an expertise concerning the problems unique to municipalities and self-insureds.

Tom Conroy and Bruce Simberg founded the firm Conroy & Simberg, P.A. in 1979 and Tom continued to specialize in workers' compensation defense. Tom has been a board certified workers' compensation attorney since certification was first offered in 1988. From 2004 through 2007, the South Florida Legal Guide recognized Tom as one of South Florida's Leading Attorneys and he has recently been named a "Florida Super Lawyer" in that yearly publication.

In addition, Tom is a member of the American Bar Association, the Dade County Bar Association, the Broward County Bar Association and the Palm Beach County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute and is on the Workers' Compensation Executive Council where he served as its chair from August 2006 to August 2007. He has served as a trustee and as president of the Friends of 440.

Lawrance “Larry” B. Craig, III was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University in 1966 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville in 1969. From 1969-1971, Larry was a Captain in the United States Army and received a Bronze Star for the Vietnam War in 1971. Millard L. Fretland has been involved in a civil trial and appellate practice in both state and federal courts. Dale L. Friedman was born in Hackensack, New Jersey and moved to South Florida in 1957. In 1969, Dale received a Bachelor of Education from the University of Miami with an emphasis on speech pathology and audiology. Prior to law school, Dale was employed as a speech pathologist and audiologist and teacher at Hope Center for the Developmentally Disabled until 1986 when she returned to the University of Miami to obtain her law degree.

Dale earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami in 1990. In law school, Dale was an editor of the Entertainment and Sports Law Review and won First Place in the 1989 State Moot Court Competition. Dale is a member of the Order of the Coif, a national organization recognizing the top 10 percent of all law students. Dale was chosen as one of South Florida's Top Rated Lawyers for 2012. Since her admission to the bar in 1990, Dale has practiced in all areas of commercial, personal injury and class action litigation, with an emphasis on employment, legal malpractice, title and mortgage claims, trademark and copyright, fraud, and premises liability.

Tom Regnier was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 2003, where he was Senior Articles Editor of the University of Miami Law Review and a member of the national moot court team. He also holds an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School in New York, where he was a Harlan F. Stone Scholar.

Tom has taught as an adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago and the University of Miami School of Law. He has clerked for Judge Harry Leinenweber in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and for Judge Melvia Green in Florida's Third District Court of Appeal. His law review articles have appeared in such publications as NYU Journal of Legislation and Public Policy, Santa Clara Law Review, and UMKC Law Review.

Tom worked for several years in the appellate division at the Office of the Public Defender for Miami-Dade County and now practices in all areas of general liability with an emphasis on appellate practice. Danny, the youngest of six children, grew up in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and is a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School. Valle, Laurence F.

Laurence “Larry” F. Valle was born in New York, New York. He earned his undergraduate degree and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 1966 and 1969, respectively. From 1966-1973, Larry served in the United States Army, Judge Advocate General Corps and was an active duty Captain from 1970-1973. In 1973, he was appointed as a Military Magistrate in Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Larry practices in all areas of general liability, with an emphasis on maritime law, insurance defense, professional liability, and personal injury. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1969 and he was the Panel Chairperson of the Fee Arbitration Committee in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit from 1995-1998. Jonathan E. Walker was born in Selma, Alabama but was raised in Pensacola, Florida. Jonathan received his undergraduate degree from the University of West Florida in Pensacola in 1988 where he was listed in the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges publication. He received a Master’s in Public Administration degree in 1992 from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. While in graduate school, Jonathan received the James H. Boyd Award for Excellence in Public Administration. Jonathan graduated from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in 1997. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1997 and is an active member of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association. Also, Jonathan has lectured frequently throughout the country on Florida workers’ compensation law.

Following law school, Jonathan was a state prosecutor in Pensacola for several years. While with the State Attorney’s Office, Jonathan handled a variety of criminal prosecutions in both jury and non-jury trials.

Jonathan now practices exclusively in the area of workers’ compensation defense representing employers and carriers. Since coming to the firm, Jonathan has focused his practice in the Florida panhandle area and has tried numerous workers’ compensation cases to final hearing.

Jonathan resides in Pensacola with his wife, Tanya, and their two children, Olivia and Landon. His interests include college football, home improvement projects, and reading.

Michael K. Wilensky was born in Yonkers, New York and has lived in South Florida since age 5. Edward N. Winitz was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his B.B.A. from Temple University in 1969 and his Juris Doctor in 1972 from the University of Toledo College of Law where he was a member of its Law Review. After graduation, he served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Earl Chudoff of the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia. After a brief period in private practice with a large Philadelphia law firm, Eddie attended both the law and medical schools at Case Western Reserve University and earned his LL.M.(Master of Laws) in Law and Medicine in 1976. For eight years, beginning in 1977, Eddie was Adjunct Professor of Law at Nova Law School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida teaching Law and Medicine and Medical Malpractice Litigation while practicing full time in the area of medical malpractice litigation.

Since 1992, Eddie has specialized in Personal Injury Property (PIP) litigation, fraud related cases, coverage issues as well as SIU (special investigation unit) projects for many insurers. He has reviewed and has handled thousands of these cases from before suit through trial. Eddie has helped guide our firm into being one of the largest PIP/SIU defense firms in Florida, and has helped mentor our lawyers in all our offices in Florida in this field.
