Miles A. McGrane, IV a partner in our Hollywood Office, was recently sworn in as an Executive Board Member and Secretary of the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of The American Board of Trial Advocates (“ABOTA”). ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges that are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the right to a civil jury trial-a right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. ABOTA membership is by invitation only and is comprised of Defense lawyers, Plaintiff’s lawyers and judges who focus on civil trial practice. Since its founding in 1958 ABOTA has worked tirelessly to uphold the jury system and to elevate the standards of professionalism, integrity and civility in the legal profession.

Joshua Canton, managing partner of the firm’s Tallahassee office, has achieved Board Certification in Civil Trial Law by The Florida Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization and Education. Board certification identifies lawyers with specialized knowledge, skills and proficiency, as well as a reputation for professionalism and ethics. Board certification is the highest level of recognition by the Florida Bar. Of Florida’s more than 107,000 lawyers, less than 1% are board certified in Civil Trial Law.

The scope and function of the Workers’ Compensation Rules Advisory Committee is to carry out the mandate of the Florida Bar concerning the proposal of new rules of procedure and changes to existing rules.
